The founder of Cooley Studios and The Academy of Classical Art is Michael A. Cooley. He earned an Bachelor of Science degree in medical illustration in 1987 from The Ohio State University, Master of Fine Art in illustration in 2011 from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in Connecticut where he began studying classical art. In 2012, Cooley studied classical art with Marvin Mattelson at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, NY. Cooley is passing on to his new students the same time honored methods he learned from his mentors.
Cooley Studios offers part-time ongoing monthly drawing and painting classes to anyone who wishes to learn to draw and paint without the pressure of becoming a professional. Although it is casual, one can become professional from the thorough training at Cooley Studios. Anyone new to Cooley Studios will receive a introductory 15% discount. The Academy of Classical Art is for serious students seeking a professional career as an artist, art educator or both. This program has a three year curriculum of drawing and painting. The official program will start September 2014 but we are presently seeking 2 to 4 students to study with us this spring for the months of April and May. These initial spring classes will run 9am until noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Students will receive a 25% introductory discount.
