| I currently work one day a week as a nanny with another family in Powell, usually on Wed or some Tues. I am looking to round out my work week, add one to three FULL days/wk to my existing work schedule.
I achieved my BA in Spanish from Muskingum College in May 2002 in New Concord OH (near Zanesville) and have worked as a substitute teacher for three different public schools in Ohio since then. I also worked at a daycare in the toddler classroom for a year and helped with preschoolers as needed here in the Columbus area. I have worked with several children at one time and special needs children. I had CPR/First Aid Training in August of 2005 and would be willing to complete that training again as necessary. I have had several background checks done and would be more than willing to submit to one for your family as well if you require it. I live on the West Side of Columbus with my husband of two years. We do not have any children of our own yet.
I do age based crafts with the children I watch, bring books from the library to read together, silly music to dance with and sing, and if possible, do a little mini science lesson or work on early writing/reading skills and counting/math. I also am also open to new ideas if you already use a set schedule. I enjoy taking children on nature walks and exploring the world around them. I do not believe in too much TV viewing, no more than an hr. or two per day, as I have seen it sometimes leading to a lack of imagination or inabilitiy to develope critical thinking skills. One of these days, I hope to go back to school and get my certification to teach full time in an Ohio classroom, but until then, I'll just do my best to help educate and inspire the children's lives' who I come in contact with on a regular basis.
